Herbert Alston, III is a seasoned leader whose work bridges technology, military service, global ministry, and community transformation. As Program Director for Operation Sower, Inc., he brings more than three decades of experience in strategic leadership, project management, cross‑cultural engagement, and capacity building to communities across the Northern Region of Uganda.

Herbert’s professional background spans multiple sectors, including the U.S. Army, federal government, and private industry. He has served as a Project Manager for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and enterprise systems consulting with Wells Fargo Financial.

Before entering civilian leadership, Herbert served 10 years in the United States Army as a Telecommunications Systems Manager, earning multiple commendations for excellence, including the Army Commendation Medal (three times), the Joint Service Achievement Medal, and recognition from NATO. His military career shaped his disciplined leadership style, his commitment to service, and his ability to build strong, mission‑focused teams in diverse environments.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Herbert is a pastor, theologian, and global ministry leader with a deep commitment to equipping underserved communities. His ministry focuses on theological education, leadership development, agricultural training, economic empowerment, and community wellness. Herbert’s vision is to help rural pastors build self‑sustaining churches and strengthen the spiritual and social fabric of their communities.

He holds a Master of Divinity in Christian Apologetics from Liberty University Theological Seminary, an MBA from the University of Maryland University College, a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science in Global Business and Information Systems Management from Arizona State University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. Student in Bible Exposition, further deepening his commitment to biblical scholarship and pastoral leadership.

Across every chapter of his life — military, corporate, ministry, and nonprofit — Herbert remains guided by faith, integrity, and a passion for empowering others. His leadership at Operation Sower reflects his belief that true transformation begins when people are equipped with knowledge, opportunity, and hope.
